Research Project
Evaluation of Analytical Methods for EDCs and PPCPs via Inter-Laboratory Comparison
This project, directed by Dr. Brett Vanderford at the Southern Nevada Water Authority, is designed to evaluate current methods of analysis for EDCs and PPCPs at ppt detection levels. In recent years many new liquid- and gas chromatography techniques, combined with tandem mass spectrometry, have appeared as sensitive methods used to understand the occurrence and fate of contaminants in the environment. To ensure that quality data is used by water utilities and decision makers, a careful evaluation of these methods is needed. ALEC will participate in this evaluation process as one of multiple labs analyzing a common panel of target contaminants.
